I've been working on a series of more abstract mixed media images through December and into the New Year. Sometimes pure photography is inspiration enough for me... and at other times, I love to experiment and work into the early hours exploring themes connected to my life-long fascination with phosphenes.
I'm trying here to recreate the coalescence of shapes and forms that I always experience in the moments before falling asleep and into dreams. These dream landscapes are never solid - always shifting - and are often viewed in a surreal and beautiful twilight, mingled with a wide array of patterns, textures and colours.
This image is called The Dreaming and is intentionally abstract to allow the viewer creative freedom to explore. I have enclosed a close-up detail here to show the level of texture and detail that surrounds the illuminated branches of the solitary moonlit tree.
